let them eat cake. because it's hella good.

to summarize things...my host family is great.
my host mom, madame de beauville, slightly reminds me of mrs. weasely.
which is just perfect because i'm obsessed with harry potter.
monsieur de beauville speaks english really well, but works a lot, so we rarely see him.
madame de beauville is a funny woman and helps us with our french all the time.
she really encourages me and kelly to speak french, but definitely tolerates our inability to speak french well. we're getting better...maybe.
they have four kids. two boys and two girls.
we're not sure which daughter lives across the hall from us...or if it is the same one we've been eating dinner with. it slightly remains a mystery.
kelly and i share a room. i have the top bunk and she's on the bottom. we have a good time. there's a little desk and tiny fireplace and a microscopic closet. it's quite lovely. and very blue.
we share our apartment with one of the daughters (or the only one...?) and a student from spain.
we have a bathroom, a WC (or the toilet room) and a little kitchen.
oh, and have i mentioned that we live right next to the train station?

saturday we celebrated anna's birthday.
with a picnic at the eiffel tower.
some serious shopping at H+M.
dinner at cafe du marche.
and gelato from amorino (i think...but it was dang good)
a few girls went clubbing, but i was too tired, so kelly and i hit up mcdonald's for some free wifi.
got to skype my family there until a man kicked us out.
let me tell you...mickey d's in asnieres (the suburb outside of paris where we live) is a hopping place at night.

sunday we went to stake conference in versailles.
after we went to the palace. and that's where the adventure happens.
so i was with a bunch of girls, and no one was making a decision, so me, sammie, and hailey decided to find this place (which happened to be near where our hotel in versailles was the very first night i arrived in france). we ended up stumbling upon the petit trianon (where marie antoinette lived) and the grand trianon. as well as the little peasant village that marie antoinette had built. we romped around the gardens and explored the paths through the trees. it was honestly a dream and i've never seen such a beautiful place in my life. when our feet started aching like nobody's business, we walked back to the palace, hoping we'd find more of the girls. we called a couple, but they had left and told us that everyone else had left. so we decided to try and get into the palace of versailles.
and it turns out that our student id and art cards will get us in for free!
so we spent another hour wandering through the palace. which was fantastically beautiful.
around 6, we headed back home.
kelly was gone when i got home, but left a note, saying she'd be back soon.
we finally got internet, so i checked my facebook.
30 notifications and half of them are from kelly and the other girls.
wall posts like "where the freak are you?" and "so...we lost you today...where are you?' and so on...
turns out they thought i got lost.
i just laughed.

today was my first day of school. i had my THREE hour french class this morning and a TWO hour religion class in the afternoon.
guess who was late to the 9 AM french class?
this girl.
i promise i'll stop getting lost.

and it looks like i'm up to date.

and here's a little taste of versailles...
