so i like art

school is great. actually it's not. it's basically hell. all my professors decided that everything is due in the next couple weeks. so i'm loving life.
anywho...i'm currently trying to put my portfolio together for my visual arts application. i'm applying for the graphic design program. and also the studio art program. and if i don't get into either program...well maybe i'll just drop out of school.

ok i'm done rambling. here's some of my art from this semester. i have a lot, so these are just the ones i liked the most. feel free to take a gander, pick your favorites. maybe let me know.
i have to narrow my portfolio down to my 10 best pieces. so your help would be massively appreciated.
(also, steal my art and i will hunt you down. literally.)

life at the lodge

freak...i'm the worst blogger ever. oh well.
i'm like two, maybe three weeks into my junior year at byu and so far it's been a pretty good time.
i love my apartment, my roommates, my ward, my classes (well just my art classes), just like everything i guess. it's been fun meeting new people (even though i'm horrible at remembering names) and it's been even more fun seeing friends from my last two years at the Y.
as i've mentioned months ago, i've declared my major.  right now i'm in the graphic design pre-major program and i'm planning on applying for the legit program this november. i'm nervous and excited and can't wait to see what'll be in store for me. i'm currently taking the core art classes for the major and i already love my classes. especially 2D design. we just do all the kind of art i like doing. my drawing class is a struggle but i still enjoy it. basically i just feel legit carrying my art portfolio around campus because i'm an "art student" now.
my roommates are the shiz. we're all super chill and get along almost too well. our apartment it great and we've deemed it "the lodge" because it has sort of a cabin/hunting feel to it. which is almost too perfect because i have so many wolf pictures, posters, mirrors, blankets, etc. so i can finally put some good use into them. we also have a N64. so that brings over frequent house guests into the late hours of the night.
anywho...college is a good time and i feel like the rest of this year will just be really legit and what not.
ALSO BIG NEWS. i'm getting real, live, prescription glasses this week. (i've always wanted glasses, so i wear fake ones, and but now i actually need real ones, so i'm kind of really excited.)

i achieved adulthood and became a member of costco
we bought a butt load of groceries
tiffany got married
N64
the roommates (from the top and left to right: jessie, julie, sarah, me)
sarah and i out for a late night stroll
drawing class
rooftop concert series: fictionist
our living room
a little preview of our flapjacks and flannel housewarming party

so yeah...

did i also mention i'm spontaneous?
i'm now a graphic design major.
provo, i'm here to stay. (for fall...i'm so totally going home for summer).

indecisiveness is a disease.

so i'm going through a mid-college crisis, i think.
many of you (i think?) know i'm really indecisive (and if you didn't know, now you know), which kind of sucks. especially now that i'm pretty much a junior in college and i have no effing idea what i want to do.
what does make my life easier is that i want to do something with art. so that narrows the major pool down a lot. ideally i'd like to do graphic design, but the byu program is difficult to get in to and if i'm starting the program my junior year, that my be iffy. so i could potentially try the program at uvu. i don't know if it's as competitive but it might be easier. i'm at least going to look in to it.
and as weird as it sounds coming from my mouth/brain. i kind of want to stay in provo. at least for college.
so what i'm saying is, interior design at ldsbc just might be a no go.
if anyone has any input or suggestions or advice or anything to keep me sane, i suggest you contact me.

today i...

packed up a lot of stuff to take back home. a lot of stuff.
spent 80+ bucks on food and random things, so my meal plan won't overflow. again.
understood direct objects in french. finally.
left the window in our room open. all day.
came back from class to find that the screen fell off the window.
jumped into a large and uncomfortably pokey bush to retrieve the fallen screen.
successfully got out of the bush. but the bush was in front of a car. and people were making out in that car.
bought a 50 pack of markers.

somewhat successful day?
i think so.

skiing, naps, and scum kings.

i definitely just woke up from a wonderful and much needed three hour nap.
after getting 5 1/2 hours of sleep and then skiing for 6 hours in possibly the best powder of the season, i definitely needed this nap. and i'm still a little tired. and i think i have to do homework now...which i'm dreading, but i need to do it. i should become less academically inept and more productive.
i'm being so lazy. but why not?

this week has been great though. and it's only wednesday. alex and mark came down to provo monday (because those lucky brats have spring break) and it was so nice to see people i know and enjoy that aren't at BYU. i love my BYU friends (even though most of them are from salt lake) but seeing people i don't normally see really made being in provo not so bad. we stayed up till midnight (because it's a school night and we can only stay in the lobby of J hall for so long) playing scum (and i was king for a majority of the game...until emily dethroned me and i eventually because butt scum where i got awful hands with 5 as my highest card) and just talking. i haven't had that much fun in a long time. and it even inspired me to stay in provo friday night (but mostly because my sister and her friend might be coming down to visit). maybe it is when people visit that i am most happy to be living in provo. because in all honestly, i hate provo. and i would much rather be living in salt lake. they are like two completely different worlds.

on another happy note, i have a job for when i get out of school. i am working for my uncle doran (an interior designer) at his office. i start training with katie (my cousins wife) on monday and i couldn't be more thrilled. this will be a great opportunity i think and i'm really looking forward to it.

oh. new blog layout. and it'll probably stay like this for a while. this is first layout i have actually truly liked. so props to foam magazine and my scanner.

oh hey...it's march.

today was a fantasically beautiful day. holy creepy carp fish it was so nice.
the sun was out. i took a nap on the dead grass at a creepy park where emily and i decided to attempt some studying. despite the car whose car alarm never ceased to stop and the creeper man who sat 50 feet away and "texted" on his phone for 20 minutes, it was quite nice.
if it's as nice as it was today...tomorrow, i'm wearing a short sleeve shirt and sandals.
i'm in another music daze. so much new music in a matter of 24 hours.
and it's good music. so enjoy...and i'm pretty sure i'll post more in days to come.

i really like:

fall.
spontaneous adventures.
fun concerts [pun most definitely intended.]
paper cranes.
pumpkins.
crunchy leaves.
halloween decorations.
magazines.
harry potter.
bags.
my ukulele.
cooking pasta in cheap vintage pots.

i'm in a fairly good mood today. mostly because my mom took me shopping and out to lunch. and i have gotten most of my homework done for today. and i taught myself how to make origami bats. and pumpkins [which sort of failed]. and last night i bought tickets to the midnight premiere of harry potter and the deathly hallows [because it comes to theaters in exactly one month].
so yes. i would say it's been a good day.
