today was just one of those really long days. monday's usually are.
i don't start class until noon, but the day started early because i'm poor and my mom has all the sewing supplies i need.
so i ended up waking up at like 8:30 so i could shower because i have learned that straightening my hair just makes it gross much more quickly (even though it looks longer) so i showered. let my hair air dry and be curly for today. met my mom at thanksgiving point. drove back to p-town. touched up my hair with the curling iron. and then went to three straight hours of class.
french. d+c. sewing.
so if any of that made sense, i finally had a nice hour long break before my advertising class. i had a go pick up a book at the bookstore, so i went there first. i also had to return a book (because i dropped my intro to film class. THANK GOODNESS because it would have been too much work for my little brain to handle).
so i picked up the sewing booklet and the girl said i could also return my books in this line, but i had to wait for two people because only one guy was doing returns. when it's finally my turn the guy can't figure it out, so he sends me to some office in the corner of the bookstore. i'm a little pissed off, but it's fine because the little old lady who helped me was really cool.
she said things like, "let me just check on the system because i know how to work computers."
and "i don't remember life before we had computers. they're just so great, aren't they?"
and "it looks like you removed the shrink wrap, so you have to pay a whopping two dollar fee."
basically she was just a million times nicer than the other guy.
unfortunately, she sent me back to him.
and that's when i saw him. standing in the normal textbook return line, was the boy i've been slightly in love with since like...forever.
my heart started beating real fast because that's usually what happens when i see people i like. but no matter, i played it cool and skipped back to the online order line to finally return my book.
i said to the guy, "well, she sent me back here, so good luck."
RETURN DENIED. apparently they could do regular returns, but because i had taken the shrink wrap off and had to pay a $2 fee, they sent me away once more, but this time to the regular textbook return line. yes folks, the regular textbook return line.
naturally my heart started beating too fast again. i'm just awkward and sometimes i have a hard time with situations like this. and i had previously thought about what would happen if i ever ran into this boy. but i never actually thought it would actually happen. and here, it was happening.
so i took a deep breath and just went for it.
we said hey.
he gave me the awkward recently returned missionary handshake.
we talked for a couple minutes.
and ladies and gentlemen, it went rather smoothly.
and for once, i felt like i wasn't being super awkward. maybe i have finally changed.
and thank goodness i decided to do my hair today.
so it was probably a good thing that i ripped the shrink wrap off my books.
