i'll bois your boulonge.

i'm getting better at blogging i swear...but this weekend has been quite the par-tay.
yesterday [october 14] kelly and i had breakfast with our host mom.
it was a lovely and hearty meal of hot chocolate and toast.
you have no idea how badly i'm craving french toast and coconut pancakes (mom...i expect this upon my return) and i wish we could have bigger breakfasts, but that's all the french really eat (for breakfast that is).
anywho, we went back to bed and then got ready, and around two we met up with a bunch of girls and went to the bois de boulonge for the afternoon.
the bois served as a royal hunting forest for the merovingian kings and also as a hiding place for bandits and those fleeting from the french revolution. then in the 1850s haussmann turned it into a big park and now it's paris' main recreation center (longchamps horse race track, two lakes, a zoo, amusement park, paths, soccer fields, and museums).
we're also warned not to go into the forest alone. i assume it's because of the prostitutes and rapists that like to hang out there. also the homeless people. while we were walking through this large homeless woman (i was pretty sure she was a man though) started shouting "you speak english? american? english? you speak english??" in a creepy high pitched voice.
ANYWHO...
we rented bikes for an hour and romped (c/o riley) around the forest, all while avoiding cars and chatting it up with an italian man who only spoke italian. and obviously we all know italian. all in all...it was a lovely day. the bois is definitely a magical place and i kept getting this whole LOTR vibe avec un peu de Harry Potter. it's just a MAGICAL place. ça va?

the bois is so perdy in the fall.
