vampire weekend, gum infection, + labor weekend at the cabin.

9.5.10
It’s been quite a long week. And I’ve gone back to typing correctly. [Not all lowercase.]
Mostly because I keep getting that urge to hit the shift button at the beginning of sentences.
But back to the topic of this being quite a long week.
First week of classes and I’ve come to the conclusion that I hate to read. That is, school related readings.
Hit me up with Harry Potter and I’ll read for hours.
School will be good though.
The past few days have been more than eventful.
So I’ll begin with Thursday.
Wednesday night actually.

I was helping Mary download music in her dorm.
Then I checked my email.
I had received one from 24tix.com about upcoming events.
First event on the list?
Only Vampire Weekend and Beach House.
Two bands I happen to enjoy. A lot.
September 2nd. 7:30 @ In The Venue.
That date happened to be the next night.
Mary says: OH MY GOSH. Let’s go?
I reply: Well, I might have to miss my class because it’s at five. And I like this class. So I don’t really want to miss.
Mary says: But it’s Vampire Weekend.
I then say: Ok. Let’s go.
Sixty-five bucks later [for two tickets] we have tickets for Vampire Weekend.
We end up leaving immediately after my class [around 6:15] and we made it to In The Venue by seven o’clock.
Desperate times lead to desperate measures.
I went 95 in a 55 mph construction zone. Call me a rebel.
I mostly went around 70 the rest of the way.
Let’s just say I’m pretty good at driving.
And weaving. And avoiding cops.
We made it to SLC in 30 minutes.
Vampire Weekend was amazing. Second best concert I’ve ever been to [second because nothing tops Regina.]

I got my Harry Potter poster.
And I love it.

On Friday, I finished classes by eleven and was home in Salt Lake City by noon.
One problem though.
I was having excruciating pain in my mouth where a wisdom tooth once sat. The bottom left. My left cheek was swollen and looked like I stuffed a golf ball in my cheek.
The dentist called us back and told me to come in so he could take a look.
To my dismay, it wasn’t dry socket, but an infection. Apparently it healed too quickly and food got stuck inside of it and began to rot.
The dentist numbed the left side of my face and began poking and jabbing and cutting my gums up, getting the nasty infection goo out. I cried and squeezed the feeling out of my mom’s hand. Even though I was numbed to high heavens, I could still feel stuff. I hate pain, especially when it in my mouth.
30 minutes later I left the dentist with gauze in my mouth and tears streaming down my face.
Now I have to take infection-killing pills and rinse my mouth out with mint and medical flavored mouth wash that makes everything I eat taste like band-aids or something gross.
Honestly I know other people’s lives suck. But my life sucks too. It’s getting better though. The swelling has gone down and the pain has lessened, but I’m on amoxicillin and foul tasting mouthwash for a week or so.

I spend Labor Weekend at the cabin and it was the best break I've had in a long time. Mostly because I haven't been to the cabin since February. But I wish I was still there. It was nice to get away from Provo.
Here are some pictures to sum up my weekend:
my favorite shoes.
maddie riding the bike.
