two posts in one day...but technically the last one was in the early, early, early hours of the day. literally.
AND i promised music. i narrowed the 132 to 57. still it's a lot, but i think we'll manage.
these are in no particular order. sorry my reviews are so...lame.
nothing but time opus orange
[cute, summery, and i'm a huge fan of music with the ukelele.]
kid rickolus
[a nice beat, once again-a bit summery, quite a catchy tune. a lot of these songs can be summer-esque.]
coal war joshua james
[sort of a religious...chant? a nice beat. it reminds me of "down to the river" from oh brother, where art thou?]
U + ME= dan black
[an upbeat, love song i guess. sort of "owl city-esque", but better. sorry but i'm not a fan of owl city...]
the sun portugal. the man
[summer-esque. i can't describe it, but i like it.]
if only i knew jeff hanson
[i really liked "hiding behind the moon" by this artist. i heard this song, liked it too. just a catchy, easy-to-listen-to artist.]
knocked up kings of leon vs. lykke li
[i'm a big fan of lykke li...check out "little bit" ft. drake, it's one of my favorites...and i don't listen to kings of leon much, but this is a cool mix.]
heartbreaker MSTRKRFT
[this is a little taste of indie techno...sort of, there are better bands to represent, like gobble gobble...MSTRKRFT is a good artist with a lot of other good stuff too.]
ce soir monogrenade
[i'm into france and acoustic music, and this is like hitting two birds with one stone. a good song in my opinion.]
the lions soft black
[one of those songs you probably listen to when your having a bad day? a rather unfortunate thing to happen...being fed to lions. face down. but i really do like the guitar in this.]
she's got you cosmo jarvis
[once again, the ukelele gets me every time. i love a good ukelele song! it sort of tells a story: a boy is in love with a girl, but so is this other boy. and the first boy thinks he's got her, but the girl likes boy number two. so it's like a....ballad of losing the girl you wanted and the other boy doesn't really get it that he won? if that made any sense...]
dream song alberto arcangeli
[i like banjos too. at least it sounds like a banjo. but the title lives up to its name because this song makes me want to dream.]
warm heart of africa the very best
[love this. i want to dance crazy dances. and go to africa and help little children. which i will do someday.]
violet jeremy messersmith
[reminds me of the beatles or really any other band from that era. the whole piano chord thing is what made me think that. hopefully you would agree...]
pursuit of happiness [kid cudi cover] lissie
[pardon the swearing, but that's kid cudi for you, and this is just a cover. but it's kind of cool. i sort of like the kid cudi version better, just because ratatat is awesome. but that's just my opinion.]
a kingdom karaocake
[cool piano, nice beat. this song makes me want to go on an adventure. an adventure to some far away kingdom where unicorns roam freely and a handsome prince is waiting for me in the meadows. one can dream, right?]
stellify ian brown
[love the beat. makes me feel really cool. sort of a classy song in my opinion. when i hear it, i want to start doing the disco in a disco club under a disco ball.]
ring the bell YACHT
[this song make me want to dance. maybe a tribal dance in some parts? like the beginning. but it's a good upbeat song. kind of a judgement song? what do you think?]
you're not coming home tonight first aid kid
[love first aid kit. i love their tiger mountain peasant song cover...originally by fleet foxes, who are BUENO...kind of has a country feel to it at first. i hate country, but first aid kid is folk, not country. i like folk.]
earthly bodies j. tillman
[i love acoustic. this is just a mellow, sort of feel-good song.]
black river killer blitzen trapper
[a dark ballad about a murderer. but it's catchy. for the rebellious, like myself. sort of makes you want to do something rebellious and escape on a giant flaming eagle that spits fireballs. so bad-a...]
are you still in vallda? jj
[a song of a long lost lover that you'll meet again someday. in the summer. i like it.]
dust on the ground bombay bicycle club
[love bombay bicycle club. this is a nice mellow, acoustic song. and i love it. kind of sad, but kind of a must-listen-to.]
bodybounce kardinal offishall ft. akon
[i'm ashamed...sort of, but it's a catchy mainstream song. i'm really not a mainstream fan, but there are a few i like and yes, there are going to be a few more to come. but it's summer, you can't pass up some good car-cruisin' dance music.]
happiest times little big adventure
[cute. happy. uplifting and inspiring. makes you want to daydream about someone special, reminisce on the past.]
pieces of you wolf gang
[honestly, this makes me want to gather a handful of hardcore gangsters...piercings, tattoos, unnatural hair...and cruise the streets on vespas and mo-peds like we own the place. another song that makes you feel so bad-a.]
everything, all at once correatown
[a mellow love song that i like. a lot. acoustic. i really, truly, honestly, madly, passionately, deeply, love acoustic indie music.]
education mirah
[mirah makes you feel happy. when you're having a bad day, just tune out to some mirah and you'll feel better in no time. love her, and i suggest her other music too.]
misery maroon 5
[my favorite song right now. a great summer song. sometimes i feel like this. a lot. love this song regardless.]
dynamite taio cruz
[another mainstream song. but i love it. so don't be hatin'. it makes me want to walk into a club with ma crew and show everyone up with my...super sick dance moves that i so greatly lack.]
fables the dodos
[a classic indie band with good music. acoustic, might i add? i really just like this song.]
relator pete yorn & scarlett johansson
[i didn't know scarlett johansson sang, but she's pretty good. and this is a pretty good song. catchy, upbeat, just enjoy it like i did.]
endless summer still corners
[dreamy, eerie. it's about...a romance that will probably only last the summer, so you don't want summer to end because you're in a love daze.]
i like it enrique iglesias ft. pitbull
[another mainstream song. but once again, i want to dance. plus, my sister plays it all the time so it's hard not to listen to it. i guess...i like it. no pun intended.]
i like birds (but i like other animals too) the lovely eggs
[some nice summer rock. if i could use nine words to describe myself...]
zoomba starlight mints
[some upbeat indie dancing music. not like techno music. more like "i-want-to-jump-up-and-dance-around-like-a-native-american-dancing-around-a-fire" dancing music. and it's sort of bad-a. like...i could see myself tramplin' around the african savannah with a bunch of motorcycle gang members...or native africans...on a herd of wild elephants. or zebras.]
(sign of the fish) IDRchitecture
[i don't know how to describe this. airy? matter-of-factly? that's-what's-up-ly? or like...this is summer, i'm awesome and just walking around my neighbor with a skip and a hop, kicking a rock up the street as i walk, so don't mess with me because i'm having the time of the life. and then i'm gonna walk to a little pond and sit on the dock and watch guppies. and all of the sudden i'm riding through the meadow on a unicorn. life is good... that's literally what i was thinking of as i listened to this.]
little lion man mumford & sons
[really cool folk-like song. kind of like an upbeat ballad about the little lion man. so i'm thinking he's like a little person with lion-like features and he just saved the town from something horrible. and then i'm really thinking of a beautiful boy, shy and not well know, but he's mysterious and all the girls are into him. and he's fallen for the most beautiful girl in town and they had a thing, but then he messed it up. that's sound more reasonable.]
romance is boring (princess version) los campesinos!
[song describes my life. enough said.]
roll up the red carpet doll and the kicks
[i feel this is another bad-a song. it reminds me of some totally awesome girl who saves the world or something.]
listening everybody yay
[i want to dance. and go to some really cool tropical place.]
aminals baths
[really cool beat. i feel like this is indie techno. and good indie techno. i must say this is a great find.]
good luck sondre lerche
[who doesn't love sondre lerche? i love him. i love his music. he is a great artist that makes you feel better about yourself on a bad day.]
honeymoon bombadil
[some more great acoustic music. this kind of stuff is great to listen to any day. this song reminds me of a couple on a honeymoon. very obviously. but they are quite adventurous and have many adventures on their trip. i feel like they went to europe. maybe italy, london, or france. i love this song.]
when they fight, they fight generationals
[this is what my favorite music sounds like. and this is one of my most favorite songs. i love, love, love 50s/60s sounding stuff. and i love, love, love this song. and any music that sounds like this. story of my life.]
close my eyes the peekers
[a catchy song. that's all there is to it.]
and that is a lot of music. i do hope my "reviews" got more entertaining. and i do hope you like this music. i'll post more every so oftern. like once a month, have a music post of only music. oh i do like this idea a lot!
enjoy.
You know, I really dreamed that song.
ReplyDeletesadly, i don't know a lot of this music. Some artists I do - gotta give me some credit haha. but i want to branch out so i'm excited to look this up. and maybe my east friend in DJ hall and allsports pass will have to help me out...hint thats you haha. My other friend has similar taste to yours and she just gave me the Mumford & Sons CD. She also gave me Noah & the Whale stuff. Do you like them? Also She & Him - more folky chill stuff. (What is with folk bands and "&" in their name)
